Winter surprises newcomers. It is not harsh. Lows hover around 4°C (39°F) in January. The bora wind from the northeast can make 12°C (54°F) feel razor sharp. November dumps 61mm of rain, the wettest month. October still offers 21°C (71°F) highs, then November turns grey fast. Still, Bari in winter beats northern Europe hands down. Cold-weather refugees trickle in from November to February.
Spring and autumn win the smart vote. April to May climbs from 19°C to 23°C (66°F to 74°F). Light rain, golden light on pale stone. September and October mirror this, sea still swimmable, crowds thinning, harvest energy in markets and restaurants.

Late April through May or September through mid-October are prime. Walk Bari Vecchia in comfort. Cathedral queues shrink. Rooms cost less. September evenings stay warm enough for outdoor dinners minus August sweat.
Adventure
March through May suits walkers. Countryside glows green, temps mild. October works too, though rain ramps up after mid-month.
Budget
November through February equals softer prices. The city hums at a local rhythm, not tourist tempo. Expect rain, November and December. January and February are drier than you think. Fish market buzzes. Centro storico stays atmospheric.
